Thought process Thought process the punch bowl, venice the bowl holds sunlight like a drink nobody's finished, pools of it shimmering on smooth concrete, and the kids drop in anyway, flying over the glare on a plank of wood and four hard wheels. freedom looks like this sometimes. not a manifesto, just a fourteen-year-old catching air above the coping while the pacific breathes its soft salt breeze across the boardwalk, easing the whole jungle of concrete and hustle one degree cooler. the history is right there in the skin. wax cemented into the ledges, decades of it, dogtown ghosts in every scrape, z-boys who drained pools in '75 so these kids could have somewhere to fall. that's the inheritance. not money, not land, just a curve of concrete and the knowledge that somebody flew here first. and the new generation takes it, grabs it midair the way you grab anything worth keeping, finds their meaning in the chaos of muscle beach hustlers, incense vendors, sirens on speedway, then drops back into the bowl where it's just gravity, sunlight, and the sound of wheels writing the next layer into the skin of the place, another coat of wax for whoever comes flying after.
